ClubShow 2011

The event was of an equally high standard as the weather, which was brilliant.

More about this show will be coming soon on this website.

Judge was Mr Deryck Player. Mrs Linda Player judged the puppy classes.

The First Swedish Beagle Club Specialty Championship Club Show 2011 The first Specialty Championship Club Show of the Swedish Beagle Club was held on August 27th 2011 at the Farstanäset Camping Grounds about one hour’s drive south of Stockholm. The show site is beautifully situated just at the shoreline of the Baltic sea, and the event was blessed by a warm and sunny summer weather.

From an excellent entry of 85 there were 8 absentees, thus 77 Beagles were judged. The Club Show was opened by the chairperson of the local Beagle Club of East Sweden, Mrs Helene Rundquist, who welcomed our judges Mr Deryck Player who was judging the official classes, and Mrs Linda Player for the unofficial puppy classes., and also all the exhibitors. Mrs Ewa Swedare, chairing the Swedish Beagle Club Show Committée then together with our two judges officially opened what we hope to be the first in a long series of successful SBC Club Shows by cutting the red ribbon at the entrance to the show ring.

Mr Deryck Player began the judging of the official dog classes , from Junior Class to Veteran Class. The dogs were first graded according to the FCI system and four of those graded as Excellent were placed in each class. The decision of Best Dog and dog CC then had to wait until the bitch classes were judged, which for practical reasons at this particular show was scheduled after the puppy classes. In Sweden only Beagles with at least a 2nd price at a field trial may compete for the CC and the res CC, and no dog may gain more than a total of 3 CC:s after 24 months of age. All the entered dogs that were eligible already had their 3 CC:s, thus no more were awarded. Best Dog eventually was Britt Neumans Dynamic Flyers Posh Teddy.

After the dog classes Mr Player had a well deserved lunch break while Mrs Linda Player judged the puppy classes, which in Sweden are unofficial classes. Fourteen playful puppies entered the ring, and for most of them this was their first experience at a show. Best Puppy in Show was Madeleine Bäck’s and Linda Jonsson’s Maliwick’s Little Susie. Best Puppy Opposite Sex was Lena Bjesses Starmaids Trade Mark.

After lunch the bitch judging took place. Best bitch, in very hard competition, finally was awarded to Kenny Jansson’s Starmaids Run For Joy. The bitch CC was given to Kenneth Karjel’s Starmaids Love Song, her third.

The BIS and BOS awards of this first SBC Specialty Championship Club Show were then to be handed out by Mr Player, thus writing the first chapter for this event in Swedish Beagle history. The spectators were all applauding while the best dog and best bitch entered the big ring and ran a few rounds. The decision finally fell on the bitch, Starmaids Run For Joy for BIS, and BOS thus went to Dynamic Flyers Posh Teddy.

After a long day at the ringside everyone expressed their great satisfaction with the day, and there was still time enough to feed and walk the dogs and for a quick nap before the gathering and buffet dinner at the Camping restaurant.

Our sincere gratitude from the Board of the Swedish Beagle Club goes to the BC of East Sweden for the very successful organisation of this event, and to our judges Mr and Mrs Player who did a very conscientious job and made all the exhibitors feel that they were really seen and evaluated in a most fair manner. We hope that the SBC Specialty Championship Club Show after this flying start will become a tradition and that all of you will be back next year in Karlstad when the BC of Värmland-Dal will be our local organisers. Our judge 2012 is Ms Patricia Sutton, of Rossut fame. Ms Sutton is a 2nd generation successful Beagle breeder, she also hunts her Beagles and is one of few female Master of Hounds, and thus responsible for the hunting pack. Therefore, don’t forget to make a note in your calendar for the 2nd Swedish Beagle Club Specialty Championship Show in Karlstad August 4th, 2012. See you there!

Letter from the judge after our first Club Show

SBIK: s Clubshow 2011

I was honoured to be invited to judge the first Beagle Club speciality show, with an excellent entry of 85 hounds, with the entry being large my wife Linda was invited to judge the unofficial puppy classes, the show was held at a beautiful venue and was fortunate to have good weather, I could see that the committee worked very hard to lay out the show and to insure it’s smooth running, also I had two excellent ring stewards insuring the smooth running of the proceedings.

My principle winners in all the classes were of an excellent quality and it was noteworthy to mention that open dog and open bitch had some excellent quality exhibits in depth, my best in show winner Starmaids Run For Joy in my opinion was moving with ease with reach and drive and was a joy to watch, my best opposite sex Dynamic Flyer’s Posh Teddy was also a dog of excellent quality.

I would also like to add my veteran dog winner SE JCH SE UCH NO UCH Starmaids I’m A Tiger and my veteran bitch winner who was awarded best veteran in show Top Attraction’s Hot And Spicy were both shown in excellent condition and are a credit to the breed.

My wife Linda enjoyed judging the puppies and felt both her winners are showing a lot of promise.

We both had a very enjoyable weekend and was looked after by the club and Catharina, and we have got many happy memories from our visit to your beautiful country.

Judge: Mr Deryck Player (Lyndex).
